Purple, Rock, Scissors will welcome four college students into our annual Design Internship Program. The internship is designed to fulfill students’ credit hour internship (80+ hours), give them a comprehensive understanding of the product design process and position them for success in obtaining an entry level design position in the marketplace.

Eligibility

  • Current junior or senior undergraduate students pursuing a B.A. from an accredited technical school, college or university

  • Design or relevant area of study (digital media, usability, marketing, technology)

  • Available on-site 24 hours per week

  • 3.0 Minimum G.P.A.

  • Permanent work authorization in the United States required

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

 

Qualifications

We’re looking for applicants who are self-motivated, ambitious, and passionate about technology and design. Applicants should also be team players with a collaborative and positive attitude.

With that being said, we also believe diverse perspectives create better products. In an effort to bring on a cross-functional team of interns, we are looking for students with different skill sets who can take on specialized roles during the course of the program. Students are not required to possess expertise in all of the following areas of focus, but should specify which focus they are most suited for in their application.

Visual Design

Use visual design principles to translate brands across mediums and create beautiful products that delight.

  • Competent in Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Online or digital portfolio showing creative, thoughtful visual design and branding

User Interface Design

Interpret user insights to design the best interface for a given product, considering usability, accessibility and the user journey.

  • Competent in Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Online or digital portfolio showing clean tasteful user interface designs
  • Basic knowledge of usability
  • Basic front-end experience a plus

User Experience Design

Advocate for users through research, strategy and evaluation at every stage of the design process.

  • Online or digital portfolio showing case studies of user experience
  • Basic knowledge of human-centered design practices and heuristics
  • Research experience (surveying, interviews)

Applications Due by February 1, 2019. Selected interns will be notified on March 1, 2019. The internship takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays starting May 7 and ending July 26, 2019.
